Personally, I would highly recommend the expansion because the content it offers is really very good, an improvement on the main game. The game always does an autosave right before you enter the last area of the game so if you have that, you could access the expansion by using that save. Posted AugI've mostly played through Act 1 & 2, resulting in my party reaching level 9 or 10, and I was told to play through White March before moving on to Act 3, so I could profit of the new item type introduced in the expansion. Other than that, the expansion is pure content, new areas, new items, new companions and so forth.Īnd for the above post, the expansion is placed inside the main campaign. But for purposes of comparison, Shadows of Amn was released about two years after the original Baldur's Gate, aided by the re-use of (a modified version of) the Infinity engine and by the fact that some of SoA's plot points had been settled on while creating BG1. You have to get the expansion to get the level cap raise I'm pretty sure. There is not even any news that there will be a PoE 2, let alone when it might be released. I believe that all that stuff you listed, EXCEPT the level cap raise, is actually included in the patches. As I look into this, I can't tell if these are DLC only changes or if they are simply V3 updates which all PoE players (including my non-DLC owning self) benifit from. 'A player can play White March I & II later, once the PoE campaign is comlete' And, naturally, yes.

The DLC pages advertise four things aside from a new campaign that would interest me: AI enhancements, multi-class talents, skill updates, UI changes, and of course raised level cap. Along with the new quests and area content, the team at Obsidian continues to support and make improvements to the entire game, including the additions of Player Party AI and Enhanced Enemy AI.
